About Reiki?
Reiki is a spiritual practice which works with our universal life force energy to promote relaxation and healing for mind, body and spirit. The word Reiki is made up of two Japanese words ‘Rei’ universal and ‘Ki’ life force energy.
This therapy works with the energy that surrounds us, our entire body is an energy centre vibrating on the frequency of the wider universe. Within our bodies, there are at least 7 known energy centres which are called chakras. These centres connect us to the universe and the people around us.
As a Reiki practitioner, I act as a conduit for the life force energy which passes through my hands to support healing within my client’s body. It is usually non-invasive, but I have found in my practice that at times while working with a client certain areas along the body’s meridians may require more attention, in which case I may lay my hands over that part of your body to support deeper healing
What Are The Benefits Of Reiki?
Reiki can be used to achieve a state of intense relaxation, for relieving stress and to reduce or heal pain within the body. The technique enhances the bodies natural ability to heal itself over time. Everyone’s experience of Reiki is different, but the main thing my clients communicate is how relaxed they feel after a session.
What Happens In A Reiki Session?
I usually start a session by doing a general assessment of any health issues etc.
In a Reiki session, the client will lay on a massage bed fully clothed. I usually have some relaxing music playing, and the room will be dimly lit. I will often either be burning some incense or essential oils to clear the space of any stagnant energy and create a space for relaxation. Clients will be covered with a blanket and asked to take a few deep breaths to calm the mind before the session begins.
How Long Does A Session Last?
A session can last from 30 minutes to an hour, although it should be noted that the positive effects of a Reiki session can often continue to be felt even after the session ends. I advise after each session that care is taken and any reaction noted.
How Many Sessions Do I Need?
It depends on what you are having Reiki for:
- For relaxation, the benefits may be felt almost immediately,
- For the pain, this may take a few more sessions.
Regular sessions work best to start with in most cases.
